Eternal, Eternity

Eternal, Eternity, Timeless, Time, Changes In Perception of Time

A person discovers that we are spirit and exist separate from the body in another, an
eternal dimension.

A short time interval is experienced as being much longer. In the extreme case, minutes
can be experienced as centuries or millennia.

Above the normal life of problems, there exists a second, higher, timeless world, a reality
more native to you.

Although out of the safe harbor of his own identity anchored in this time and this place,
the traveler may still be clearly aware of this time and place as well.

An extreme in the experience of changed time and space is the awareness of infinity and
eternity.

Can anything be half eternal? That is, can a process which had no beginning come to an
end?

Children’s games go on and on because time has been forgotten and has reduced itself to
a single wondrous instant.

Consciousness is infinite, rather than finite, stretching beyond the limits of time and
space.

Consciousness uses the symbols of time, space and causality; the unconscious uses
symbols and mythic images.

During several minutes of objective time, persons under the influence of LSD can
subjectively experience entire lifetimes, centuries, millennia, or even eons.

Ego-consciousness is a bondage to time, being essentially a complex of memories and
participations. All ego-centric action has an eye to the past or the future.

Eternal life “stands in the knowledge” of the Godhead, not in faith in anything less than
the Godhead.

Eternity is now and in the light of unrepressed vision, the physical organism and the
physical world turn out to be the divine world.

Eternity should not be confused with an infinitely long period of historical time. It is a
state where linear time is experientially transcended and ceases to exist.

Every moment is a window into eternity. The absolute is manifest in every appearance
and relationship.

Everything is in flux, flowing together toward becoming One, toward the eternal
Synthesis.

For many, a sense of discontinuity between nature and man and man’s loss of the
spontaneous, free energy of eternal delight, is the essential tragedy of modern man.

For those who have eyes to see, eternal truth and Buddhahood are manifest before us here
and now.

Grof describes transpersonal experiences as those in which ego boundaries are dissolved
and awareness is extended beyond the ordinary confines of time and space.

How many of the current ideas of eternity, of heaven, of supernatural states are ultimately
derived from the experiences of drug-takers?

Humans can function as infinite fields of consciousness, transcending the limitations of
time, space and linear causality.

I know that my Self outlasts physical death and that my essence, the me that is eternal,
exists without form.

Immortality is participation in the eternal now of the divine Ground; survival is
persistence in one of the forms of time. Immortality is the result of total deliverance.

In the Eternal Now, we shall find that strait and narrow gate, that needle’s eye, through
which we are taken into the infinite life of God.

In this state, the categories of space and time are transcended and subjects can perceive
themselves as existing outside of the usual space-time continuum.

It is a cosmic consciousness into which we enter as our normal consciousness expands,
and we become aware of the transcendent dimension of humanity beyond space and time.

It is a non-egotistic consciousness, a kind of formless and timeless consciousness, which
seems to underlie the consciousness of the separate ego in time.

It is possible that a person is aware of more perceptions in a given amount of time as a
result of the enhancement of sensory data.

It would appear that LSD is a ticket to a wondrous time machine that transports the
tripper on a whirlwind tour of mankind’s ancestral past.

It’s how your soul is doing in its path to eternity, not how your body is doing in its path
through this life that’s important.

Just as any object can become the essence of all energy, any note of music can be sensed
as naked energy trembling in space, timeless.

Liberation might be defined as the process of waking up out of the nonsense, nightmares
and illusory pleasures of what is ordinarily called real life, into the awareness of eternity.

Life is timeless and spaceless. Time and space are inventions of the conscious mind.
They are not present in the underconscious mind.

LSD encapsulates an enormous amount of experience into a relatively short period.
Insights that might normally take years to acquire can burst forth in an awesome flurry.

Memory has a deep dimension, a sensation of being immeasurably ancient and knowing,
as somehow prior to time and space.

Mystical transcendence of time and space involves an experience described as eternity or
infinity.

One can connect with a state that feels eternal, understanding that one is at once the body
and also all that exists.

Paradise refers to a state of metaphysical ecstasy, a sanctuary of eternal youth, gardens of
incredible beauty, roads paved with gold. (eyes closed)

Psychedelic drugs can stimulate a breakthrough to an enlarged consciousness of a
transfigured world of the Eternal Now.

Reality, God, the Eternal Now, is entirely beyond speech and understanding and
attainment, but at the same time, is right here.

Religions teach of the eternity of men, of the greater life beyond, of the soul, of that
which is greater than this physical life.

Subjects frequently talk about timelessness of the present moment and say that they are in
touch with eternity. They refer to this experience as ineffable.

The basic structure of experience is given by our sense of space and passage of time.
Both are profoundly altered in psychedelic mystical states.

The divine Ground of all existence is not merely a continuum, it is also out of time
(beyond time, eternal).

The divine process operates in time dimensions which are far beyond our routine secular
space-time limits.

The DNA code is a miniaturized time-capsule of consciousness, the invisible essence-
wisdom of life.

The essential effect of the psychedelic experience is the death of the time-bound ego and
the consequent realization of the Supreme Identity.

The expansion of the subjective time sense is another factor contributing to the intensity
of the experience.

The gift of union with God means that our mental and physical space-time life is given
the dimension of eternity.

The inmost Self is eternal. It’s what there is and all there is. The totality of space is the
field of its consciousness.

The man who loves in the light of God is conscious neither of time past nor of time to
come but only of one eternity.

The mind comes to rest and notices the rhythm, becoming aware that the timeless intent
of the process is fulfilled at each instant.

The person is allowed to glance back down the flow of time and perceive how the life
energy continually manifests itself in forms, transient, always changing, reforming.

The playfulness of the child, the saint and of God are alike in this: that they are all actions
in the mood of eternity rather than the mood of time.

The present has spread out from its constriction in an elusive pin-point of strained
consciousness to an all-embracing eternity.

The problem of evil has its solution in the eternity which men can experience but can
never describe.

The psyche contains all the contents of time—extending backwards, across and through
time; history being latently contained in each individual.

The soul beholds realities of greater significance, such as may never be apprehended
again out of the light of eternity.

The time of dreams is different than the time of waking. The time of mystical or
psychedelic states is different again.

The whole world of men and nature acquires an atmosphere that we may call variously
divine, luminous, enchanted, timeless, archetypal.

There is time to perceive every detail of the movement with infinitely greater richness.
Normally we do not so much look at things as overlook them.

They may experience eternity and infinity within a period lasting seconds or minutes of
actual clock time.

Though our individual forms come and go like waves, we are each and all the eternal
ocean.

Time and space are inventions of the conscious mind. They are not present in the
underconscious mind.

Time is drastically altered. Centuries seem to go by and the second hand on the watch
appears to stand still.

Time may seem to slow down enormously as more and more passing events claim the
attention, or it may stop entirely, giving place to an eternal present.

To clear awareness there is neither past nor future, but just this one moment which
Western mystics have called the Eternal Now.

To use our heads, to push out beyond words, space-time categories, models and concepts,
it becomes necessary to go out of our generally rational minds.

We are cut off from the great sources of our inward nourishment and renewal, sources
which flow eternally in the universe. We must plant ourselves again in the universe.

We are not just biological machines and highly developed animals, but also fields of
consciousness without limits, transcending space and time.

We are part of an infinite field of consciousness that encompasses all there is—beyond
space-time and into realities we have yet to explore.

We confuse the whole doctrine of eternal life when we speak of it as “future life.”
Eternity is not unending time; it is an indestructible present.

We seem to oppose any process which puts the game of here and now onto the long
evolutionary timetable.

When the world is inspected directly and clearly, past and future times are nowhere to be
found. (All there is is the present.)

You call the desire for utopia childish and infantile. I believe that it is part and parcel of
the human psyche and will eternally find expression.

You go mad about sunsets because sunsets remind you of what’s always been going on,
whether you know it or not, inside your skull and outside space and time.

Your soul is free, loses all sense of time, alert as it never was before, living eternity in a
night, seeing infinity in a grain of sand.

Consciousness changes. Your nerve endings, neural cameras, cellular memory banks,
protein structures become broadcasting instruments for the timeless humming message of
God located inside your body.

Every person who has a genuine mystical experience reports that he sees the unity, reality
and infinity in space and time of all creation. He feels joy, peace and a sense of the
sacred. He knows that his experience is true.

From the standpoint of one reality, we may think that the other realities are hallucinations
or psychotic or far out or mysterious, but that is because we’re caught up at the level of
one space-time perception.

He may find that all life and its secrets, all mankind and himself, are concentrated in the
ear of corn he is holding in his hand, and he may contemplate it and stare at it for long
moments, even hours.

Human beings have a profound need for transpersonal experiences and for states in which
they transcend their individual identities to feel their place in a larger whole that is
timeless.

I’m eternally grateful for this experience. LSD changed my life. I’ve lived more, felt
more, enjoyed life more in the last dew years than I had dreamed possible. LSD gave me
that treasure. (That was actor Cary Grant.)

In a paradoxical, but to those who have experienced this heightening of intrinsic
significance, an entirely self-evident way, the relative becomes the absolute, the transient
particularly universal and eternal.

In the face of the unbelievable magnitude of the Whole Show, in the face of Eternity, we
should all be continually, every second of the incredible day and night, humbly,
reverently awed and thankful for the miracle of our impossible existence.

In recent decades, after centuries of domination by Newtonian mechanics, scientific
understanding of time, space and matter has converged with visions of the universe
expressed in Eastern religious texts that are thousands of years old.

Like sensitivity to beauty, the capacity to encounter the Holy seems to reside within
every human soul. Too often, it may sleep there eternally, but it is ready to be awakened
by the right combination of circumstances.

Long “forgotten” memories may become accessible and meaningful, with the subject
“going back in time” to very vividly experience the emotional as well as the other
contents of important forgotten or repressed events.

Past-incarnation experiences consist of fragments of scenes, individual events or entire,
rather clear and logical sequences occurring at another place and time in history. (eyes

Psychedelic equals mind-opening consciousness. Psychedelic means ecstatic which is to
stand outside our normal patterns. It means going out of your mind, your habitual world
of contingencies, space-time coordinates.

Religions whose philosophy has been least preoccupied with events in time and most
concerned with eternity, have been consistently the least violent and the most humane in
political practice.

Spiritual feelings are associated with the dilemma of time and space, origin of matter, life
and consciousness, dimensions and complexity of the universe and human existence, and
the ultimate purpose underlying the process of creation.

Spiritual grace originates from the divine Ground of all being and it is given for the
purpose of helping man to achieve his final end, which is to return out of time and
selfhood to that Ground.

The common denominator of this rich and ramified group of transpersonal phenomena is
a feeling that consciousness has expanded beyond the usual ego boundaries and has
transcended the limitations of time and space.

The DNA code is a 3 billion year old time capsule of consciousness. The DNA code is
the miniaturized, invisible essence wisdom of life. Most of the characteristics formerly
attributed to the “soul” describe the functions of DNA.

The impression is that external time must have slowed down, while the internal
experience continues at the same rate. There is not the impression of speed or rapidity,
but that the time available to the user is magnified.

The linearity of temporal experiences is transcended in unusual states of consciousness.
Scenes from different historical contexts can occur simultaneously and appear to be
meaningfully connected by their experiential characteristics. (eyes closed)

The possibility of transcending the limitations of matter, time, space and linear causality
is experienced so many times and in so many different ways that it has to be integrated
into a new world-view.

The psychedelic can alter the perception of energy, matter, and time in such a way as to
enable select random access of the spatial and temporal dimensions and make it possible
to inhabit the skins of a variety of forms and entities.

The reach of consciousness is not limited to the material world and to spacetime. It can
extend beyond the boundaries of the Newtonian reality altogether and access nonordinary
dimensions of existence.

The ultimate Ground simply “is”. Only when the individual also “simply is,” by reason of
his union through love-knowledge with the Ground, can there be complete and eternal
liberation.

There are mental spaces inside our skulls as enormous as the spaces out there. The
experience of distance, of inner distance and outer distance, of distance in time and
distance in space—it’s the first fundamental religious experience.

This universal tradition of the eternal moment always carries the implication that there is
some very special and splendid insight to be discovered in a kind of concentration upon
the immediate moment.

Time and space are creations of the conscious mind. It is because we do not always
understand that time and space are conscious devices that we get very confused when we
try to deal with the underconscious where there is no time and space.

Time and space cease to be limits. One can experience various historically and
geographically remote events as vividly as if they were happening here and now. (eyes

To be shaken out of the ruts of ordinary perception, to be shown for a few timeless hours
the outer and inner world as they are apprehended directly and unconditionally, by Mind
at Large— this is an experience of inestimable value to everyone.

Transpersonal experiences can be defined as “experiences involving an expansion or
extension of consciousness beyond the usual ego boundaries and beyond the limitations
of time and/or space.”

We are liberated and enlightened by perceiving the hitherto unexperienced good that is
already within us, by returning to our eternal Ground and remaining where, without
knowing it, we have always been.

When the Self is no longer identified with the ego, when in certain spiritual practices, it
penetrates and realizes its own depths, it simply KNOWS that it is eternal and all-
inclusive.

When there is understanding, there is an experienced fusion of the End with the Means,
of the wisdom which is the timeless realization of Suchness with the Compassion which
is Wisdom in action.

A human being is a part of the whole, called by us “Universe”—a part limited in time and
space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the
rest—a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. (That’s Albert Einstein. The delusion is
thinking we are limited and separate.)

Death is the point at which man escapes the time barrier of the conscious mind. Life does
not begin and does not end. We speak of it in this way because the conscious mind can
only express itself in terms of time and space. But this end, this event called death, is not
all. And if there is something after death then there had to be something before birth.

I see consciousness and the human psyche as expressions and reflections of a cosmic
intelligence that permeates the entire universe and all of existence. We are not just highly
evolved animals with biological computers embedded inside our skulls; we are also fields
of consciousness without limits, transcending time, space, matter, and linear causality.

I would say that the mind is not insular, but an interconnected part of a universe of both
physical and symbolic substance, whose linkages extend throughout space and time. The
Psychedelic has helped me to feel like a part of this connection. I feel like I have a much
greater understanding of non-Western and pre-industrial mind-sets.

Individuals experiencing mystical consciousness of this type have a sense of leaving
ordinary reality, where space has three dimensions and time is linear, and entering a
timeless, mythical realm where these categories no longer apply. In this state, eternity and
infinity can be experienced within seconds of clock time.

It is important to realize that the subjective experience of time is radically changed in
nonordinary states of consciousness. Within seconds of clocktime, one can experience a
rich and complex sequence of events that lasts subjectively a very long time, or even
seems to involve eternity.

Our individual consciousnesses connect us directly not only with our immediate
environment and with various periods of our own past, but also with events that are far
beyond the reach of our physical senses, extending into other historical times, into nature,
and into the cosmos.

People have experienced episodes occurring long before their own conceptions. Many
report being able to enter the consciousness of their parents during their mother’s or
father’s childhoods and to experience through their parents’ consciousness events from
that time.

Spiritual feelings are associated with such issues as the enigma of time and space; the
origin of matter, life and consciousness; the dimensions of the universe and of existence;
the meaning of human life and the ultimate purpose underlying the process of the creation
of the phenomenal world.

The most direct challenge to the principles of mechanistic science are phenomena from
transpersonal experiences, such as “the relativity and arbitrary nature of physical
boundaries, nonlocal connections in the universe, memory without a material substance,
nonlinearity of time, and consciousness associated with inorganic matter.”

The new data support quite unambiguously the view that has been held by the mystical
traditions of all ages: under certain circumstances, human beings can also function as vast
fields of consciousness, transcending the limitations of the physical body, of Newtonian
time and space and of linear causality.

The psychic depths and time depths can be tested and explored in the psychedelic
experiences. The theoretical foundation of such a statement is that the ingestion of
psychedelic substances evokes an activation of deeply buried psychic contents and a
bringing of them to the surface of consciousness.

The thought of death does not in the least disturb me, because I am firmly convinced that
our spirit is altogether indestructible and thus continues from eternity to eternity. It is like
the sun, which to our eyes seems to disappear beyond the horizon, while in actual fact it
goes on shining continuously.

There appears to emerge a universal central perception, apparently independent of the
subjects’ previous philosophical or theological inclinations. It is that behind the apparent
multiplicity in the world of science and common sense, there is a single reality, infinite
and eternal, all beings united in this Being.

We often encounter the impressive but little understood phenomenon of timeless,
universal symbols and themes emerging into consciousness in a particular dramatic form
adapted to the requirements of the psychedelic drug subject who becomes the drama’s
protagonist and thereby is transformed. (eyes closed)

Within the nucleus of every living cell lies a tiny, complex chain of protein molecules
called the DNA code. DNA is the brain of the cell, the timeless blueprinting code which
designs every aspect of life. DNA executes its plans by means of RNA molecules. RNA
is the communication system, the language, the senses and hands of the DNA.

Your soul is free, loses all sense of time, alert as it never was before, living an eternity in
a night, seeing infinity in a grain of sand. What you have seen is cut with a burin in your
memory, never to be effaced. At last you know what the ineffable is and what ecstasy
means. Ecstasy!

Loss of self may be experienced as an actual death and rebirth, undergone with anguish
and joy of overwhelming intensity. In some cases, the culmination is a mystical ecstasy in
which for an eternal moment all contradictions seem reconciled, all questions answered,
all wants irrelevant or satisfied, all existence encompassed by an experience that is felt to
define the ultimate reality, boundless, timeless, and ineffable.

Often a good part of the session would be spent on the beach or in the water. We found
that the surf, in the protected bay, proved to be an excellent way to bring someone
through a difficult phase of the trip. Simply to lie at the water’s edge, merging into the
eternal currents of air, ocean, sea, and earth, seemed to clear away much fear, suspician,
frustration, and other emotional baggage.

The most human thing about man is his eternal, childlike hope that somehow, someday,
the deepest yearnings of his heart will come true. Who is so proud and unfeeling that he
will not admit that he would be deliriously happy if, by some strange magic, these deep
and ingrained longings could be fulfilled? If there was eternal everlasting life beyond
death after all?

There is a limitless range of awareness for which we now have no words. That awareness
can expand beyond the range of your ego, your self, your familiar identity, beyond
everything you have learned, beyond your notions of space and time, beyond the
differences which usually separate people from each other and from the world around
them.

This transcendence of space and time is a key concept in all mystical experience. In our
present mode of mental consciousness, we experience the world in terms of space and
time; we experience everything separated in space and going from point to point in time.
It is well known that modern physics calls the whole space-time system in question, and
the transcendence of the space-time dimension is central in mystical experience.

Under conditioning, it seems impossible and even absurd to realize that myself does not
reside in the ego alone, but in the whole surge of energy which ranges from the galaxies
to the nuclear fields in my body. At this level of existence “I” am immeasurably old; my
forms are infinite and their comings and goings are simply the pulses or vibrations of a
single and eternal flow of energy.

With the Hebrew-Christian universe, God, the Absolute itself, is good as against bad and
thus to be immoral or in the wrong is to feel oneself an outcast not merely from human
society but also from existence itself, from the root and ground of life. To be in the wrong
therefore arouses a metaphysical anxiety and sense of guilt, a state of eternal damnation.
(This, of course, is absurd brainwashing, a vicious con game.)

I’ve been born again. There is no limitation to freedom. Freedom is to eternity, to
oneness.

They are at once unique and eternal, men and women but also gods and goddesses. For
now that we have time to look at each other we become timeless.

Time is so slow as to be a kind of eternity and the flavor of eternity transfers itself to the
hills, burnished mountains which I seem to remember from an immeasurably distant past,
at once so unfamiliar as to be exotic and yet as familiar as my own hand.

When he discovers what an ample store of unhastened attention he can give to all the rich
content brought to him by eye and ear, he finds it hard not to believe that somehow time
has been stretched.

Suddenly I feel my understanding dawning into a colossal clarity, as if everything were
opening up down to the roots of my being and of time and space themselves. The sense of
the world becomes totally obvious. I am struck with amazement that I or anyone could
have thought life a problem or being a mystery.

I float in the torrential stream of timelessness, one with it.

Now I am in the lap of eternity.

Clock time and ordinary space no longer had any meaning. Everything was happening in
infinite dimension. My consciousness swelled.

Eternity was manifested in the light of the day and something infinite behind everything
appeared.

Five minutes were 8 hours. Psychedelic time. He’s gone from present time, so he’s been
gone for centuries.

He felt that if he could die right then, he could keep the tremendous beauty and rich
emotions for himself throughout eternity.

He felt the walls of consciousness opened by an enormous thrust and he was cast out of
time.

He saw eternal cycles of life and death unfolding in front of his eyes. Nothing really got
destroyed; everything was in eternal flux and transformation.

He saw objects in a new light; they disclosed their inherent deep, timeless existence,
which remains hidden from everyday sight.

He stood there motionless, gazing, gazing through a timeless succession of mounting
intensities and ever-profound significances.

How I longed to be left alone with Eternity in a flower, Infinity in 4 chair legs and the
Absolute in the folds of a pair of flannel trousers!

Huxley had taken mescaline in a garden and shucked off the mind and awakened to
eternity.

I experienced reality from a location that lies somewhere beyond the force of gravity or
time.

I felt as if I was beyond seconds, minutes and hours and also beyond past, present and
future.

I felt endowed with all the time in the world, free to look about me as if I were living
eternity without a single problem to be solved.

I glowed like a new-born soul. The well-known landscape lost all of its familiarity and I
was setting out upon a journey of years through heavenly territories.

I had a glimpse of eternity and beside it, the daily concerns that had once preoccupied me
dwindled.

I had watched the passing of the millions of years and had arrived at paradise. (eyes

I looked down at the stairs: the depth was fathomless; it was a journey of years to reach
the bottom!

I ran madly out of the cottage and across galaxies and over time-warps and through the
seas of space, searching frantically for the green planet earth among the infinite suns.

I saw this moment as an archetypal crossroads in time, ripe with revelatory meanings and
building up to something supremely special.

It seemed as if several hours or possible days or even a year or more had gone by and it
was only 15 minutes.

It seemed to him that the walls of consciousness were opened by an enormous force and
the force thrust him out of time.

My life suddenly seemed to me infinitely precious and I cried out with joy at the thought
that I was now living so much in so short a span of time.

The colors seemed to glow with an inner light. It seemed a glimpse of something timeless
and primordial, a sort of breakthrough into the realm of the absolute (eyes closed).

The drug seemed to induce an effortless, absorbed and timeless power of inward-turned
consciousness.

The drugs produced sudden insight that one has been living in a narrow space-time-self
context.

There was awareness of unutterable bliss coupled with the conviction that this is the only
real and eternal state of being.

This moment now is it, eternity. The acid was acting as a cleansing agent, dissolving all
the wooly stuff that got in the way of my direct perception of the here an now.

Time distortion enabled him to compress a great deal of learning into a short period of
time.

Under the protection of their evening shadows, the farther water lay like a divine child
asleep, watched by an eternal nurse.

We danced in the golden light of space, seemingly into eternity, in a state of bliss
understood only by those who have experienced euphoria.

All identity with self dissolved. There was no sense of time-space, only an awareness of
Being. At no time was there a sense of the individualized self. I never knew when “I”
entered the stream, only the emergence out of it.

Before taking LSD, I never stayed in a state of sexual ecstasy for hours on end, but I have
done this under LSD. It heightens all of your senses and it means that you’re living the
sexual experience totally. Each caress or kiss is timeless.

By my calculation, the state lasted 300 years, for the sensations which followed one
another were so numerous and pressing that any real appreciation of time was impossible.
The rapture passed…I saw that it had lasted just a quarter of an hour.

Every atom of my body and soul had seen and felt God. The world was warmth and
goodness. There was no time, no place, no me. There was only cosmic harmony. With
every fiber of my body I knew it was so.

For what seemed an immensely long time, I dazed without knowing, even without
wishing to know what it was that confronted me. I was so absorbed in looking, so
thunderstruck by what I actually saw.

I felt that two people who really love can never be separated, not by space or time or
eternity. The line in the marriage ceremony “till death us to part” seemed utterly
ridiculous. (I thought the line is “till death due us part.”)

I had traveled through all that immeasurable chain of dreams in 30 seconds. “My God!” I
cried, “I am in eternity”. In the presence of that first sublime revelation of the soul’s own
time, and her capacity for an infinite life, I stood trembling with breathless awe.

I saw my world shrink to a micro-speck floating in the eternity of the cosmos and I
smelled enlightenment and was promised answers to the questions I didn’t even know
how to ask.

It was like returning home from an eternity spent in loneliness among strangers. (Home,
here, means the Other World and the strangers are the people you have known in this
world.)

The culminating experience was one of transcendental peace, with visions of supernatural
beauty and the sound of celestial music…Ecstatic feelings of timelessness,
weightlessness serenity and tranquility.

The legs of that chair, how miraculous their tubularity, how supernatural their polished
smoothness. I spent several minutes— or was it several centuries?–not merely gazing at
those bamboo legs, but actually being them—or rather being myself in them.

The psychiatrist asserts it is “fact” that the subject sat in a catatonic state for two hours,
refusing to talk; the subject knows the “truth” to be that he was spinning far out of space-
time into an ecstatic dance of neurons which made words inadequate and irrelevant.

There was only the music and then bright colors that turned out to be musical notes. The
notes danced along a silver staff of music that stretched from one eternity to another,
beyond the planets and stars and space itself.

This revelation was more primordial than an encounter with Freudian guilt or Original
Sin. It was as though I’d come face to face with a timeless version of my aboriginal and
innately moral self.

Every object in the room was a radiant structure of atomic-God-particles. Radiating.
Matter did not exist. There was just this million-matrix lattice web of energies.
Shimmering. Alive. Interconnected in space-time. Everything hooked up in a cosmic
dance.

I became conscious in myself of eternal life…I saw that all men are immortal: that the
cosmic order is such that all things work together for the good of each and all; that the
foundation principle of the world…is what we call love and that the happiness of each and
all is in the long run absolutely certain.

I felt that I was part of some intricate, unified network that was all-inclusive and eternal
and I felt that in that place I would continue to exist in some form forever. My belief in
the finality of death was undermined by an event that was so real it could not be denied
and I could no longer believe that death was the end of everything.

I understood that the essence of my being was identical with the timeless essence of
every living thing, that formlessness was the essence of form, that the whole universe was
reflected in every psyche, and that my separateness was only a illusion, a dream from
which I had, in this moment, fully awakened.

The concept of time does not merely lose meaning, but, more impressively, is seen in a
new perspective. Subjects assert that they felt “outside of” time, beyond both past and
future, as though they were viewing the totality of history from a transcendent vantage
point.

We remain ignorant of our true nature—our eternal Self. It was that Self that I longed to
discover. In order to get in touch with the ground of my being, I had to strip away the
accretions of prejudices and preconceptions that cluttered up my psyche, making it
impossible to see what was really there.

I experienced a wave of extraordinary bliss, like a full-body orgasm, and the sense I was
in the presence of something absolutely awesome. Sex is nothing compared to the ecstasy
I felt at that moment. I had no awareness of my body or ego or time, only a profound
sensation of illumination and the feeling I was in the presence of ALL That Is, eternity,
God, whatever you might call something all-encompassing.

I realized, “My God, every single second is really eternity.” I felt I’d dipped into eternity
and was experiencing a glimpse of it along with a hint of its vastness. I was blown away
by the enormity of these revelations. By now, I was flying so high, I felt I was in an
exalted state, that I was having a mystical experience of the highest order, something I
always dreamed of.

Large trees known for their longevity, such as sequoias and redwoods, were experienced
in the sessions as representing timeless and centered consciousness uninfluenced by the
turmoils and upheavals in the external world. Other insights associated with similar
experiences were related to the mystical consciousness and deep religious significance of
certain plants.

My familiar reality had cracked; a vast new reality that promised liberation from death
and meaninglessness lay before me. I believed that if everybody saw what I now saw
there would be peace on earth. The demons of hate, violence, illness and war would be
banished back into Pandora’s box. The scales would fall from humanity’s eyes and we
would recognize that we are one, and that we are eternal.

The feelings I experienced could best be described as cosmic tenderness, infinite love,
penetrating peace, eternal blessing and unconditional acceptance on one hand and on the
other as unspeakable awe, overflowing joy, primeval humility, inexpressible gratitude
and boundless devotion. Yet all of these words are hopelessly inadequate and can do little
more than meekly point toward the genuine, inexpressible feelings actually experienced.

The world slowly formed…life evolved…the world aged…man evolved…man
aged…thought pulled itself together…slowly…slowly…no way to hurry it along…slowly it
got around to me, sprawled on my back, staring open-eyed into the sun, on a beach at Big
Sur, and them…wham…and I slid right out of existence again, back to the beginning…for
eternities, until I fell into time again and saw the illusion of ocean-sky-sand.

A minute was now longer than his “whole life up to that point.”
All reality was totally present, including the past and future.
An episode could be both instantaneous and eternal.
Being dead was not a problem. I was happy to spend eternity in this state.
Beyond time, beyond past, present and future, in religious language, I was in eternity.
Centuries were lived, yet the minute hand of the watch hardly moved.
Eons had gone by and worlds within had been explored.
Eternity had burst in. Eternity had flooded the gates of time.
Evening at last closes a day that seemed to have been going on since the world began.
Everything had a shining quality of newness and eternity.
Everything was touched with eternity. Time was no longer.
Extraordinary joy overcame me, a strong, a beautiful feeling of eternity and infinity.
He had honestly seen the Big Eternity.
He had transcended time and space and experienced “Heaven.”
Her face was that of all women, wise, beautiful, eternal. Her eyes were all female eyes.
I experienced an ever greater sense of an eternal dimension to life.
I felt that in a second I had lived through a lifetime.
I felt very good in the deep and profound knowledge of my eternalness.
I looked at my watch and forgot what time was.
I looked into the endless depth and felt the powerful pull of eternity.
I saw eternity.
I was eternally in trip time.
I was godly and eternal.
I was moving and living in another time dimension.
In religious language, I was in eternity, beyond time.
In this world, a single second was freely interchangeable with an eternity.
My visual field showed a glow and I had a sense of peace, tranquility and eternity.
My watch, I knew was in another universe.
Our eyes met and engaged in an eternal, nonverbal exchange.
Play was played eternally.
Somewhere, time was passing.
The psychedelics triggered the switch that allowed me a glimpse—an instant of eternity.
Their minds were enlightened in an immediate experience of eternal life.
This awareness was sudden but timeless.
This was the fulcrum moment of eternity. God was present.
We resumed our divine dance, effortlessly, timelessly, in tune with the pulse of the house.
Whenever I looked at my watch, I was always amazed that so little time had passed.

  1. Yup I took the huge rip of DMT (dimethyl tryptamine) for the first time out of a triple perculated bong completely unaware of it’s potency and how much I consumed also while thinking I was a psychedelic Samurai from past experiences with other mind alternating substances like lsd, shrooms and even inhalents. This resulted in a VERY intense painfully fast transaction into actualism. While exhaling my hit reality and all self awareness started to dice into grids. The suddenness made me panick and fight back. Which did nothing but cause a supernatural pain. The more I resisted the more painful it got I started to dematerialize at the waist and it was headed both directions following a frequently of powerful hertz that just got higher and higher. the intensity made me think I went to deep to come back and was actually dying.” At least I died tripping” I thought to myself as soon as I calmed down with acceptance the frequency peaked out and ended with a very distinctive and animated pop noise as I was fully consumed by anti material. All 5 senses were cut entirely creating an unimaginable pain and insanity with the feeling of no escape. I appeared in the eturnal chamber painfully frozen solid ,face to face with the original entity of love she seemed surprised and said ok he’s ready. Not again I thought and kust like everyone else I obiverated into infinite me’s across the enlessness and contracted back to the eturnal chamber aware of it all. the room had a table with four different ways of movement up, down, expansion and contraction, each point had a set of primals of the 3rd dimension red, yellow ,blue 3,6,9 x,y,0 etc . I used it like simen sais starting from the simplest form of matter until I got the equation of my current existence
And made my return this way. Has anyone else ever experienced the eturnity this intense? Did you use the table to back like me? I wonder.

  2. I tripped on acid with a friend for the first time and this completely paralleled my experience. I’m a spiritual being to begin with, but on it, my ego disappeared I became disillusioned with the “past” and “future” and my friend and I became completely thrown into the NOW. We even began to feel like one consciousness, looking into her eyes I felt I was looking at myself and she would describe the same. I remember looking at her like we were in a video game, like I could see her on a grid. It was great. We felt infinite. We realized the LSD only brought forth that reality and consciousness was the “trip” the whole time. We felt like we had been on LSD our whole lives in a way. After that trip, nothing has been the same.
